This is an emerging and powerful branch of Engineering, which
has the tremendous advantage of abstraction and flexibility.
This has revolutionized not only the data processing and
storage, but also the quality of life, communication,
manufacturing and transportation.
Mechanical Engineering is
the science of exploring the natural resources of power and
propulsion and materials of engineering construction, through
the design, development, production, installation and operation
of power plants, transport equipments and industrial plants
besides the organization and administration of such plants.
Civil Aviation in India is poised for rapid expansion in the
next few years, with several new private operators entering the
field. Maintenance of civil aircraft would open up considerable
challenges and opportunities to Mechanical Engineers.
The Department has highly talented staff who will endeavor to
"train the brains and impact skills to the hands" of its
students using Ultra-modern equipment in its laboratories and
workshops.
The workshop of the department caters for the training
requirements of all the departments of RNCET. It is spread over
an area covering more than 6000sq.ft. and is comprised of the
following shops well equipped with modern machine tools and
related accessories: Machine shop, Fitting shop, Carpentry shop,
Welding shop, Foundary & Forge shop.
The department endeavors to equip the students with such
training, which will bee beyond the syllabus prescribed by the
university. Some of the special initiatives taken will be:
The workshop will be equipped with a CNC Lathe trainer and a CNC
Milling Machine along with latest version of CNC compatible
Software-Master.
The department is establishing the Thermal Lab, Hydraulics Lab
and Kinematics of Machines labs fully equipped with latest
Equipments.
Curriculum:
The course aims emphasizes at areas of energy conversion,
refrigeration, design & fabrication of mechanical components and
systems, production engineering, management techniques, and also
interdisciplinary areas like CAD/CAM, Automation , Operational
research , Mechatronics .
